Tl;Dr: boat camping with college buddies, giving blood is hard??
Today we head out on Boys Weekend ’26, our annual disaster. Boating and camping around puget sound. It is lovely to see the boys.
I gave blood (in Olympia) today. I tried to give blood yesterday, but Bloodworks NW lets me.make appointments I’m not eligible for, and gives unclear instructions on when one becomes eligible.
I found out that the eligibility rules are guidelines from private organizations like the American Red Cross, there’s nothing in federal law that actually specifies a time interval. The policy I stumbled across is six donations and 365 days. The actual guideline is every 56 days but that does not work out to around number so apparently organizations just kind of guess. Fair enough people should sit their own policies. But don’t let me make appointments that break your policies. Yours sincerely, Karen. (I feel like a bit of a cranky old man. Getting my panties all in a bunch about this but it really ticks me off to waste so much time).
