oscitation – to Yawn
I’m always interested in Latin vs Anglo-Saxon words. This morning I was a bit sleepy, and started to wonder: what is the Latin word for the Anglo Saxon word Yawn is. And, I’ve never ever heard it before.
Anglo-Saxon words are usually short, sometimes onomatopoeia-ish. Latin words are mutli-sylabic and fancy sounding. Anglo-Saxon:Latin – Bruise:Contusion.
Anglo words tend to be a bit more accessible, but I tend towards fancy. It’s good to keep an eye on it, even while learning new fancy words…
