My wife & I have been married for 25 years! We had a nice evening out at Jazz Alley seeing the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. Great show!
This is an old story, but I suppose it needs to be written down at some point.
We Eloped – a decision that worked out well. Our thinking goes: a wedding has at least 2 parts:
- The part between spouses
- The part between the couple & everybody else
A normal ceremony mixes these together, to famously stressful effect.
So, we split them up. Bonus: Two Anniversaries!
Our December Anniversary is from our Elopement. We asked our close friends to help out: they drove us down to Tolovana state park on the Northern Oregon coast. We donned wet suits, waded out into the surf and said our vows.
Some boogie boarding & a stay at the Surf Sand resort. A speeding ticket on the way home.
We stopped at my parents house on the way back home to let them know. I know it’s a strong memory for them
Another funny story: a few days before we picked out our rings and had them resized. The day before we left, I went down to pick them up from the jeweler. When I got back to out (quite new to us) home, the front door was open.
Somebody had broken in, rifled through our stuff & taken $20 of change and a crappy camera. We were leaving the next day, so I nailed the front door shut (since the lock was busted).
The door was nailed shut for… 18 years? We never use that door.
