Tl;Dr: ~50 miles and less than 5,000 feet of elevation over the highest pass on the route. WIP check back later.
I’ve had a couple days of sitting around, mostly due to weather and letting Laural and Hardy heal up a bit. The weather looks as good as it’s going to get, L&H haven’t changed much, I’ll likely go have them looked at (sorry doc!) in Del Norte.
Thanks to Fremont Sam T. I have a recommendation for a place to stay: The Mystic Pedalet
Thanks again to KJ & Nick for all the hospitality at GoldPan Acres.
Here’s a bit more about what Platoro looks like
Looking north
Update: 11.9k feet of elevation around 1pm!
I feel a bit bad about waiting out the weather, but Holy Cow – what a great weather day.
Met a bunch of SoBo folks:
- Sami – pulled in to Platoro at 8am, rough night
- Conner – cheer and headed on
- Rich from Australia – broke his frame in Montana, finishing out Colorado. Already exited the race
- Ethan who’s cruising along
- Alyssa & Marshal headed up to the pass, hi-fives but no chit chat.
Saw some ATV riders (Lance (Armstrong?!?) from Texas and a bunch of youngins. One of the ATV crowd said I won Best Outfit today. I guess laundry in Platoro really paid off.
