Tl;Dr – traveling to and with friends is lovely
A few folks from my book club went to visit a member who’d moved to the Twin Cities.
High:
- A baseball game at a small stadium was a chance to talk with K. who I don’t get to see so often. Also, the game briefly got dramatic.
- Fly over America was better than expected
- Scotch Egg at the fair was much better than a funnel cake
- Meeting the young family of B, as well as Perspiration Church (sauna Sunday morning) was really lovely
- Man I’m lucky to have great friends.
Low:
- Mall of ‘Merica was just as mally as you’d expect
- The boat ride on the Mississippi was pleasant, I was hoping for informative and awesome
- Animal cruelty reminder: Sow’s live in a farrowing cage for up to 3 weeks. Basically, confined to lay down
Buffalo:
- Deluge – we walked to and from a pizza joint without getting wet, but while we were there the skies opened up and it poured rain for… 12 minutes
- Sheep (at the fair) vibrate when they’re cooling off (panting)
- Horses don’t move their faces when they neigh. I somehow thought their was some significant head and neck gesture.
- Charcuterie the board game
- A man transporting a chair by wearing it on his bicycle

But mostly it was just fun to hang out with my friends and slowly amble from experience to experience. And we experienced a lot! State Fair, Mall of ‘Merica, a saints game, a sauna, ride on the Mississippi, all in just a couple days.
We also learned Duroc (a card game), watched Minority Report, had a chatty Uber driver from Kenya.
