The 3.5% rule & popular protest

Tl;Dr: The 3.5% rule is a real thing, and has exceptions like most rules.

In my circles I hear alot about the 3.5% rule: If that percentage of the population of a country is protesting, change will come. I’m generally suspicious of popular wisdom, since some of it is just made up. In this case, it appears to be a real published thing, and it’s even been re-evaluated which makes me believe it even more.

The lesson is: movements make progress with more people, get your neighbors engaged.
